Your boat likely comes with plenty of amazing features already on it, but you can always add accessories to make it even more practical! Buying the right boat accessories will let you and your passengers enjoy your boat trips while keeping yourselves and your belongings secure, in addition to ensuring the boat stays in good condition. Here’s what you need.

Dock Lines

In order to secure your boat to a dock or pier, you’re going to need some dock lines. Historically, boaters had to use thick lengths of coarse rope with special knots to lash their boats to a dock. Today, though, we have thin nylon cords that are very durable, along with bungee cords that easily hook onto the boat and the dock. Make sure you have enough lines of the right length so you can dock your boat securely.

Dry Bags

Don’t want your stuff to get wet? Invest in some waterproof dry bags that, as the name suggests, keep your possessions nice and dry. You don’t want choppy waters to wash over the side of your boat, soaking your towels and ruining your wallet. Dry bags also tend to float, so if they do fall overboard, they can be fished out again.

Personal Flotation Devices

Also known as PFDs or, more commonly, life jackets, personal flotation devices are a must for every boater and every passenger on a boat. Make sure you have good-quality PFDs that fit your passengers securely (including models designed for children) and that they aren’t damaged. You should also have a throwable life ring on board to toss to anyone who falls over the side of the boat or who needs rescuing after falling off their water skis.
